Following a delayed start in Sheffield, play finally got under way at approximately 4pm. All 91 entrants were well aware of what was at stake, with just two legs remaining the players that were towards the top of the leaderboard were out in force. The early playing styles represented this, as it took well over an hour for the first casualty of the day. On a king high flop, Stephanie Tessmer pushed her remaining chips into the middle, to be called by Lucy Skellern. Stephanie revealed K 5 but Lucy had her dominated with K Q to leave Stephanie to make her exit.
At the buffet break we had witnessed 10 eliminations over the opening 2 hours of play. The chip leader at that point was Cherie Joy, a finalist at the Newcastle leg of the tour. Amongst the chip leaders was Nikki Short, interestingly seated immediately to the right of Lynne Beaumont. Nikki and Lynne were both tied for the lead in the overall points table and hoping to retain their places.
The play after the break began to gather pace, as the ladies began to loosen up their games and it seemed like no time at all before the final ten players were taking their seats at the Final Table.

Following a marathon final table session that lasted until the very early hours, the heads-up battle took place between Paula Agnew and Carla Goddard. With time against the players and a chip count so very close away, Paula made her move by pushing all-in with 5
3
, and Carla made the call holding J
7
. The board ran out J
J
2
leaving Paula requiring running cards to make a straight. The Q
9
on the turn and river however, gave Carla a flush to secure victory and a seat in December's Grand Final.
