Event Five: Swansea
The Fifth leg of the Ladies Poker Tour took us to Swansea and our first ever leg in Wales. With a delayed start time of 16:00 the 48 ladies took their seats.

One of the regulars Elizabeth Costa was the first to go. Short stacked, Elizabeth moved all in with A K, and was called by Becky Neilson with 3 3.

As a consolation prize Betfred awarded Elizabeth a ticket into the next BLPT event in Stoke.
Shortly before the break we lost Stacey Hamilton. Stacey holding 10 10 went All In pre flop. Stacey was called by Jenna Stacey with 7 5. The flop came:

No further help and it is a very cruel way for Stacey to leave us at such an early stage.
At approximately 18:20 we took a one hour break for the buffet. There was very little action in the first session as 45 players still remain. Below are the chip counts at the first break:

The first player to go after the break was Helen Watkins. Helen was short stacked and raised 600 pre flop with 5 5. She was called all in by Caroline Watkins who was holding 10 10. There was no help on the flop and Caroline's hand stands up.

Shortly after this we lost tour regular Christine Evans. Christine raised pre flop to 1.2k and was called by both Emma Stutt and Monica Martinsen.

We are now down to 39 players with the average chips 7.4k and the blinds at 300/600.
Just before the second break we lose Dee Mavor, when low stacked she moved all in with A 10 and was called by Sue Adams A K. Sue's A K holds up and takes Dee out.

Soon after the break we lose Carey Hollick. Carey was short stacked and moved all in with 5 5 and Robyn O'Neil called with A Q. Robyn hit an A on the flop taking the chips.
At 22:30 we were down to 22 players with the average chips at 13,100.
Next to go was the reigning champion Lynne Beaumont. She was in a 35k pot with Lynne and Caroline Parkinson, Lynne went all in with K K and was called by Caroline with A A.

No help for either on the board and so Caroline takes the chips.
At this point the players were dropping quickly and at the next break we were down to only 12 players. The average chips were 22,000 and with the blinds at 1000/2000:

In the 1st hand of the final table we lost Robyn O'Neil. Linda Blundell with 10 10 raised to 8k, Robyn went all in with A A and was called by Linda.

Linda hits a full house and Robyn takes 10th place and £100.
Sue Adams was short stacked on the BB with Q J, and Gail Pirie in first position called with A K, forcing Sue to go all in.

Unlucky for Sue who goes out in 9th place taking home £130.
At this point the players were dropping quickly and Rebecca Neilson was the next casualty.
Rebecca went all in pre flop with A Q suited on the SB and was called immediately by Angela Evis with Q Q.

Becky takes home £170 for her 8th place finish.
Soon after Mel Lofthouse, on the BB had K 3 and Emma Strutt, SB called with Q 10.

Emma checked and Mel bet 4k, Emma then raised 10k, Mel re-raised another 6k.
Emma called turned over Q 10.
No more help for Mel and so she goes out in 7th place and takes home £290.
For over two hours the remaining players passed chips around with very tight play the order of the day.
At 02:30 the chip counts were as follows:

At 03.00 we finally lost a player in Luan Fraser. Angela raised 19k with AQ suited clubs....Luan moves all in (approx 40k) with 77, Angela calls. The flop came down 3,8,10...turn J...river A leaving Luan out in sixth place taking home £350.
The blinds now stood at 3000/6000
In 5th place we lost Johanna Richards.
Johanna in 1st position flat called and Emma Strutt, BB checked.
The flop came down A 4 A
Johanna went all in with 15k, holding 8 8 and Emma immediately called and turned over A 4 giving her a full house against Johanna’s two pair. Nothing more for Johanna and she was sent home with £420.
At this stage Linda Blundell consolidated her chip lead by taking out Gail Pirie. Gail, very short stacked, pushed all in blind, and was called by Linda Blundell.
The ladies turned over their cards, Gail showing 8 2 and Linda 10 10.

Gail leaves the table with her prize money of £580.
At approximately 04:00 we were down to three players, with the chip stacks very even and a lot of play still ahead of us.
Angela Evis was knocked out by Emma Strutt at approximately 04:40.
Angela was in SB with J 7. She went All In and was called by Emma Strutt with A 10.

Angela left with a cool £870, leaving Linda and Emma heads up.

Early on in the heads up battle Linda lost a 94k pot with a cruel outdraw. Linda called Emma's All In raise. Linda had Q J and Emma had 5 7

However Linda recovered a large proportion of her chips in the very next hand. This time Linda pushes All In, with 2 2. Called by Emma with A 3

Play continued for a few more hands and then:
Emma moved all in with 3 3 and Linda goes all in and shows K K.

And with that Emma takes the BLPT leg of Swansea and an unlucky Linda takes 2nd place.
